Lake House, Seme

The client envisioned a residence that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior living,
creating a true sense of openness. This vision is realized through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows,
generous terraces, and soaring double-volume spaces in the living and dining areas. The design
embraces the breathtaking panorama of Lake Victoria, ensuring that every principal space enjoys
uninterrupted views of the water and surrounding landscape.
Responding to the region’s tropical climate, the house was conceived with sustainability at its core.
Large operable windows maximize natural ventilation and daylight, reducing reliance on artificial
lighting and cooling, while a dedicated solar farm further enhances the home’s energy efficiency.
Embedded into a sloping terrain, the architecture works in harmony with the land, with the lowest level
cut into the earth to ground the structure both visually and environmentally.
The program is thoughtfully organized across three levels. The lowest level is devoted to wellness
and recreation, incorporating a gym, sauna, changing rooms, and a private bar. The ground floor is
centered on family living and hospitality, featuring two living rooms, formal and informal dining areas, a
spacious kitchen with scullery, guest wing, master suite, staff quarters, laundry facilities, 11 parking
spaces, and even a private helipad.
The first floor is dedicated to private family spaces, including a second master suite with an outdoor
shower and terrace, two additional ensuite bedrooms, and a family room that opens out to elevated
views of the lake.
Balancing cultural sensitivity, sustainability, and modern sophistication, Lakeview Residence is a
contemporary retreat that celebrates the beauty of its setting while offering a refined lifestyle rooted
in both tradition and innovation
