The Mombasa Old Town Mixed Development is a carefully crafted project spanning
2,220 square meters (23,896 sq. ft.), designed to integrate seamlessly with the historic fabric
of Old Town. The client sought a development that would honor and reflect the area’s
unique identity, blending effortlessly with its centuries-old architectural character.
The concept was inspired heavily by Mombasa Old Town’s Swahili and Arab architectural
roots, which are deeply tied to the city’s history as a coastal trading hub. Characterized by
carved wooden balconies, shaded verandahs, arched openings, and mashrabiya-inspired
screens, the design pays homage to the cultural legacy of the area while reinterpreting it for
contemporary use.
The development integrates multiple functions within a cohesive whole: parking facilities, a
restaurant, commercial spaces, office spaces, and residential units. The residences feature
2-bedroom apartments that combine modern comfort with the charm of traditional detailing,
creating homes rooted in place yet attuned to today’s lifestyle.
By balancing tradition with functionality, the project emerges as a vibrant hub — one that
respects Old Town’s architectural heritage while supporting the evolving needs of modern
urban living.
